Christmas was a little different this year for the Varner family, but a very blessed one! We had Christmas Eve at our house with my parents and with my brother Chad. My brother Scott and his family were with Kelly's family this year in Orlando. We had plans to go out to eat at Fuzzy's (we don't care about fancy in our family!) b/c my dad had to work (he is a chaplain) and who doesn't like Fuzzy's? Well, my dad of course got off work late and Fuzzy's decided to close early...so we got to scramble and just find whatever was open (Subway for us and KFC for Allie). After we ate, we opened up family presents. Jack and Allie had already opened up the present they gave each other b/c Jack was exhausted and didn't make it through Christmas Eve gift exchange.
Allie was super excited Christmas morning. She couldn't wait to see if Santa had eaten the cookies she left and drank the milk...of course he had! She was so excited to see that he had left her lots of fun toys and her Unicorn Pillow Pet...it was the only thing she had asked for. Jack had fun Christmas morning too. He wasn't sure what to do at first, but once he figured out he could bang his hands on everything, he had lots of fun! We quickly ate breakfast and packed up to head to my parents house for Christmas lunch. My dad had to work that afternoon, so we planned an early lunch.
Later that afternoon after we all had naps, we went to see my Granny at the nursing home. This was her first Christmas not to be at her house and with family. It was really hard (on all of us), but we had a great time with her! We all brought her presents to open in her decorated room (thanks to my mom and aunt) and we brought her a Christmas meal. It was so nice spending that time with her.
I hope everyone was able to spend Christmas with their family. We are all so truly blessed and I'm so thankful I was able to be with my family during this time of year.
Happy New Year's!
