VBS 2012

We had a great time at VBS this summer. I was able to teach Allie's class with a good friend and Jack got to be there as well. He loved feeling like a big kid!

Haircut Time

I have always taken Jack to get his haircut at a kids salon, but Jarod finally convinced me to let him cut Jack's hair. This way we save money AND I can keep his hair short by cutting it more often! Both boys did very well for the first time...Jack didn't scream and Jarod didn't lose his patience:)
 A sucker is a must!
This picture cracks me up! Such a serious face!
 Profile shot...looks pretty good!

Love his sweet tummy and his farmers tan:)

Our Easter in Pictures

He wasn't quite sure what was about to happen

Every year we go hunt eggs at my families church in Arlington...good thing, since it rained later that day:)

Allie's Pinkalicious 6th Birthday

It's hard to believe that my first born turned 6 on April 17th...how in the world is she 6 years old??? It really is true when people tell you that you blink and they are in college. I don't feel like I should have a 6 year old...I feel like Allie is still 2 or 3 years old, but when I watch her play and interact, it's clear that she is no longer a toddler, but clearly a girl who acts way to grown up and it makes me sad that she is getting so big so fast.  I really do wish time could stand still, but since it can't, I'm trying to cherish each moment that I have with her.  I hate that I was never able to stay at home with Allie, but I'm so thankful I was able to when she started school. Even though she is in school, I have still been able to spend more time with her.

For Allie's birthday, we had a Pinkalicious themed party and everything was pink, pink, pink! It's based on a book where a little girl eats way too much pink cupcakes and turns pink. It's a very cute story and all of the decor matched either things from the book or it was just pink. I started finding things for her party back in February and March. I knew the dollar spot in Target would have pink things in March and once they did I found other wonderful decor to help with this very pink party! We had pink cupcakes, cookies that looked like cupcakes, strawberry ice cream, pink cotton candy, pink candy bar, pink wands, and pink cupcake goody bags filled with a pink ring pop, cupcake shaped notepad, and pink chap stick.  A little overkill, but necessary:)

This was the first kid party that we've had at the house and overall it went great. My only regret is that I was so wrapped up in being the hostess, that I didn't get enough pictures. But, Allie and all of her little friends had a great time. She invited a few friends from school, church friends and her cousins. We started the party with making a pink picture frame. We had cute pink scrapbook paper of all different shades and prints and the girls used mod podge to get them to stick. We've done this a lot with crafts at church and thought it would be perfect for Allie's party. They turned out super cute! Then we opened presents, ate delicious cupcakes, cookies and ice cream and all of the girls played around out back.  I had planned to read the book to them but we couldn't find it. Maybe I should have looked before the party:) Allie did find it 3 days after mixed in with her coloring books. Oh well!

I'm so thankful that we have been able to be around this beautiful little girl for the last 6 years and I'm looking forward to the next 6 years!

These cookies were delicious and turned out a lot better that I thought they would

Pink cupcakes with pink butter cream icing topped off with a red sour cherry and white sprinkles
Mini candy bar...I'm sure all of the parents were thankful for the sugar I supplied their kids with:)

My bestie made this adorable shirt and skirt for Allie...she is so talented!

Didn't get great group shots of the girls...bummed me out because they all looked adorable in their pink clothes!!!
Jack was happy to stop eating so I could take his picture

My family stayed later for pizza and the girls wanted to have the Barbies outside too:)

Jack's 2 Year Stats and Favorite Things

It hit me the other day that I never posted about Jack's two year stats and other fun things I want to remember about this little man!
Height: 38 in. tall
Weight: 35lbs.
He is now "off the charts" for both height and weight. Usually he is in the 97% percentile. His doctor said if he continues on this growth pattern, he could possibly be 6'3-6'4 when he is older. The same thing was said about my oldest brother and he is 6'7!

Jack has such a fun personality and enjoys trying to make everyone laugh. I fear that he may be the class clown once he is in school, but for now we are all enjoying his silliness.  His speech gets  clearer and clearer every day. People who are not around him daily are able to understand what he is saying most of the time.  Every day I feel like he says a new word or a new sentence.  He also repeats a lot of what he hears. I love that he is a chatterbox and we all love hearing him express himself more with words and less with grunting or getting mad:) He is also starting to tell us about his day. Obviously, its not in a lot of detail, usually 2 or 3 words and unless you knew what he had done, you may not understand everything he is trying to tell you, but he is trying! For example, on Tuesdays he is in a little class at ladie's bible class and when I pick him up he says, "class, sing, Jesus, eat, slide, outside." Which translate that he was in class he sang Jesus Loves Me, ate lunch, went outside and down the slide.

Jack's Favorites:
meal-spaghetti or baked ziti
snack-cheese or yogurt
fruit-grapes
veggies-peas
sweets- any kind of ice cream, especially if it has sprinkles:)
toy- he likes anything that he thinks he can drive-scooter, car, tricycle, motorcycle, train
activity-playing outside, finding sticks, kicking the soccer ball or hitting a baseball
hat-he doesn't leave the house without his Ranger hat my dad gave him
song-twinkle, twinkle and ABC's
helping-he loves to help me do things around the house; laundry, pick up toys, take out trash, empty dishwasher

Things Jack can do at 2:
-climb a ladder at the park (he shocked me with this a month ago)
-count to 5 on his own; count to 10 with little assistance
-jump
-hit a ball-he swings left handed
-throw a ball- left handed
-dribble a soccer ball
-eat with a fork and spoon
-draw circles (he does this right handed)
-sometimes can ride his tricycle the correct way
-ride his scooter; slow, but he can do it!
-take off his clothes, shoes and socks

Things Jack is still learning:
Colors-he has no interest in learning colors...for a while everything was blue, now everything is green. Every now and again he may say purple or yellow.
Shapes- he knows circle, triangle, star and heart, moon
Letters-no interest in this either, but at times he recognizes his name and then "tries" to write it.
Going Potty-we've been talking about this a lot with him and when Jarod or myself are in the bathroom, he says "I try", which means he wants to try and potty. We haven't had any success, but just the fact that he is a little interested is good.
ABC's-we sing the song when we wash hands and he has gotten pretty good at singing it.

We are so thankful for our healthy and happy boy!
